Who we are, where we come from
Founded in 2009 by former executives of TGE – a global leader in the handling and storage of liquefied gases – our portfolio spans the full project cycle: from consulting, concept development and financing, to technical planning, implementation, operations and ongoing quality assurance. Our clients include governments, utilities, energy providers, project developers and infrastructure operators around the world – essentially, any stakeholder involved in developing and running critical energy infrastructure. Since 2023, Gasfin has served as lead consultant and now also provides On-Site Operations Management for Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET), the German government’s terminal operator that was established to secure national energy security following the Ukraine crisis.

Gasfin advises, develops, finances, builds, owns and operates energy infrastructure projects – especially in the mid-scale LNG sector. We don’t build the infrastructure ourselves – we enable it. As an independent development and operations partner, we deliver modular or end-to-end services across the entire LNG value chain.

We are independent, agile and solution-agnostic. We don’t sell products – we find the right answers for each project. Gasfin covers every service along the entire LNG value chain. This is unique in the market. Clients engage Gasfin for selected project modules – or rely on us as a full-service one-stop shop. We aim to deliver infrastructure with a long-term perspective. Since 2023 Gasfin has acted as lead consultant and on-site operations manager for Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH, a German state-owned enterprise mandated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) to operate import terminals for liquefied natural gas (LNG) delivered by sea. DET was established to strengthen energy security in Germany and Europe following the Ukraine crisis and the end of Russian gas imports. Gasfin supports the delivery of the DET key infrastructure sites in Brunsbüttel, Stade and Wilhelmshaven with technical, commercial and operational expertise.

LNG & Sustainability

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to –162 °C to become liquid – making it safe, compact and economical to transport over long distances. LNG can be shipped globally and stored in large volumes. After arrival, it is regasified and fed into the national gas grid or directly to the industrial user. This enables countries like Germany to access energy even when pipeline routes are unavailable or disrupted. LNG plays a vital role in diversifying supply sources and ensuring energy security – particularly in times of crisis or peak demand.

Yes, LNG is a fossil fuel – but also a transitional one. We see LNG as bridge, not as destination. Today and worldwide it plays a crucial role in securing energy supply while infrastructure for greener energy sources is being build. Our solutions are already designed to accommodate future energy sources like hydrogen and synthetic fuels.
